We are pleased to support the Nottinghamshire Hospice and our village (full details given below).
Founded in 1980, Nottinghamshire Hospice is a community-based palliative care centre which provides high quality care services to adults who have terminal and life-limiting illnesses, and their families and carers.
All services are provided free of charge to patients and their loved ones. Each year Nottinghamshire Hospice needs to raise £4m to fund the services they are proud to provide to the Nottinghamshire community.
All the work of Nottinghamshire Hospice goes back to ‘Adding Life to Days’. They aim to improve the daily lives of people who have been told that their illness cannot be cured. They help people who are thought to be in their last year of life to live as actively and well as possible with care that puts the highest value on dignity, choice and respect.
Now, more than ever, they need your support to continue the ongoing work and launch new services to support our community in a time of crisis.
In 1984, my family and I were looking for a home near to my new job in Radcliffe -on-Trent. I was driving over Gunthorpe Bridge on the way to a rugby match and saw a sign for East Bridgford.
Curious, I turned off and drove in just as the road-side daffodils and cherry blossom were in full bloom.
We moved in later that year and have now lived in this vibrant & beautiful village of just under 2000 residents for more than half of my lifetime.
However, it was only during a previous Open Gardens event that I discovered how many wonderful gardens there are here, some hidden from view.
This is a great opportunity to enjoy the same experience.

Brunt’s Farm has a large garden behind the 400 year old house and a smaller front garden. There are lots of borders, trees and a vegetable plot. (video)
Garden has three separate areas. Nearest the house is the cottage borders, the back garden has the entertainment and third is the walled kitchen garden. (video)
A mature garden that once formed part of the grounds of East Bridgford Hall. There are ancient and new features as we continue to develop and structure the garden.
A hidden garden on Main Street with one very deep south facing border planted with formal box bushes surrounded by naturalistic herbaceous perennials and grasses. There’s a pleached hedge at the back that borders the snicker from Butts Field.
A busy family garden, at the heart of family life. Beautiful structural trees bring scale, and a large lawn for footballs, pets, kids, big and small!
This garden provides us with recreation for our children, beautiful places to unwind in and an allotment and orchard for tasty produce.
A small garden with the emphasis on all year round interest. Planting is based on form and texture with raised beds constructed of natural stone. (video)
Mixed planting, shrubs, herbaceous, bulbs, small pond, vegetable garden, beech hedge and traditional mixed hedging running along side of field. Shrubs are mostly spring flowering and mostly evergreen.
A mature garden laid to lawn with shrubberies and a large pond feature currently inhabited by "lockdown" families of moorhens and mallards.
A garden full of evergreens, shrubs, birds and footballs. Having tamed it a little and added some more plants and structures, it still holds its mature and peaceful charm.
We hope you enjoyed your visit.

We are delighted to welcome visitors to our village this year. We currently have 18 gardens to show, plus our own Springdale Wood and a Bee Farm.
This is our third time running (last year was virtual) and to date we have raised over £3,700 towards good causes.
If you can't make it today, don't worry as we shall be showcasing our gardens on this website. We shall launch the page on the day, please make a note if you want to visit.
We are really fortunate in that Timmermans Garden Centre will be running a pop-up plant stall. There are also a few of our gardeners who shall be selling plants too.
Refreshments will be available too, with drinks and a selection of delicious home made cakes.
Please look at the map at the bottom of this page. It can be busy in the village, so we are encouraging cars to park on Kneeton Road (see map below) NG13 8PH . It is best to start at garden number 1 or 2 (see map) as garden 3 is quite small.
You can start at any participating garden. Entry is £5 (children free) and you will be provided with a brochure / map to help you find your way around the village. We shall have contact-less payment available at a few gardens. Look for the balloons.

A few gardens welcome dogs, but on the whole you will be asked to leave them outside the properties you visit.
We are running a competition for children on the day. Click here for more information.
As with the rest of the country, we await details of restrictions etc. We don't anticipate problems, but we shall be making thorough Health and Safety checks and will ensure we follow any protocols that may be in place.
We are fortunate to have the opportunity to showcase some wonderful old photographs of the village. Click here for the link.
