It's a Wrap

A Plantsman's Garden

A Plantsman's Garden

This garden wraps round the house in a controlled riot. Wildlife pond, diddy ‘no dig’ kitchen garden, gravel garden and tall grassy borders filled to bursting with harmonious perennial planting.

A Plantsman's Garden

A modest rear garden with a large apple tree surrounded by an extensive collection of plants in pots, some quite large or unusual. Definitely not a traditional low maintenance garden!

Moss Close

You won’t find vast acres here, just a homely, manageable, eclectic assortment of flowers, shrubs, soft fruit and vegetables. Look out for jokey plant labels, to make you smile.

Byways

Small Home – Small Garden

Moss Close

A complete sun-trap with challenging growing conditions, but benefiting from a sheltered and secluded rear garden. However everyone appreciates our Cherry Tree in the Springtime!

My small garden around my Park Home down Trent Lane, still a work in progress, but getting there.

A New Garden

Small Home – Small Garden

Small Home – Small Garden

New garden started from scratch last year. Main features, flower borders and roses climbing up the house. It will be interesting to watch it develop over the next few years.

Springdale Wood

Planted in 2000 with ash, oak, birch, and cherry,  with an under-canopy of rowan and other woodland shrubs SPRINGDALE WOOD is a community managed wood open to the public.

Brunts Farm

A large garden behind the 400 year old house and a smaller front garden. There are lots of borders, trees and a vegetable plot.

The Pingle

The Pingle

A mix of perennials, shrubs, climbers and semi-wild patches, providing colour and interest for the spring and early summer months. Garden style is ‘spontaneous’ – if it arrives, it usually stays.

Prize Farm

The Old Egg Farm Gardens

The Pingle

The side garden is a series of circular lawns with herbaceous borders. The front garden is laid to lawn with borders. Displays of ferns, acers, hostas, succulents, alpines and bonsai.

The Old Egg Farm Gardens

The Old Egg Farm Gardens

An expansive garden in an attractive setting with something for everyone! Formal planting is juxtaposed with semi wild and naturalistic areas, including a wild pond.

Dovecote House

The Old Egg Farm Gardens

This is a cottage garden with some modern touches, planted with wildlife in mind. We record birds, butterflies, moths and other wildlife using the garden.

Trees (tulip tree, serbian spruce, weeping pears, etc), clipped yews, grass and herbaceous borders, with many shrub roses. In the family for 60 years.

You are very welcome to view this garden full of plants big and small from all over the temperate world.

A Brickyard Garden

East Bridgford Garden

A garden very much on 2 levels! The house and patios on the top level and a lower more secluded area 15 steps below with terracing, steps and a winding grass path down.

Against the Odds

This incredible beautiful garden is featured in East Bridgford Virtual Open Gardens.

This interesting and relaxing garden benefits from stunning established trees, these break it into separate areas and raise your eyeline so that the garden seems much bigger than it actually is.

A garden of two halves

The front garden has a woodland feel, surrounded by trees, hedges and climbers. The back is more a cottage garden with patio (very slippery when damp), pond and sprawling flower beds.

Longcroft

This incredible beautiful garden is featured in East Bridgford Virtual Open Gardens.

A secluded garden retreat in Straws Lane.

Uplands

Parterre gardens linked by a corridor of alliums, irises and agapanthus.  A yew hedge separates the formal garden from the lawn where a variety of trees allow sunshine and shade throughout the day.

Appletree Cottage

Appletree Cottage

Set low down in the hollow created by the brickyard many years ago, the plot is divided up into many small gardens that wrap around the house creating a number of seating areas.

Nottinghamshire Hospice

Founded in 1980, Nottinghamshire Hospice is a community-based palliative care centre which provides high quality care services to adults who have terminal and life-limiting illnesses, and their families and carers.

All services are provided free of charge to patients and their loved ones. Each year Nottinghamshire Hospice needs to raise £4m to fund the services they are proud to provide to the Nottinghamshire community.

All the work of Nottinghamshire Hospice goes back to ‘Adding Life to Days’. They aim to improve the daily lives of people who have been told that their illness cannot be cured. They help people who are thought to be in their last year of life to live as actively and well as possible with care that puts the highest value on dignity, choice and respect.

Now, more than ever, they need your support to continue the ongoing work and launch new services to support our community in a time of crisis.

East Bridgford Village

In 1984, my family and I were looking for a home near to my new job in Radcliffe -on-Trent. I was driving over Gunthorpe Bridge on the way to a rugby match and saw a sign for East Bridgford.

Curious, I turned off and drove in just as the road-side daffodils and cherry blossom were in full bloom.

We moved in later that year and have now lived in this vibrant &  beautiful village of just under 2000 residents for more than half of my lifetime.

However, it was only during a previous Open Gardens event that I discovered how many wonderful gardens there are here, some hidden from view.

This is a great opportunity to enjoy the same experience.
